Treat the Problem, Not the Symptoms

To understand the Full Cleveland requires an understanding of its fundamental opportunities and challenges. Many of the economic hurdles our region now faces are self created, either deliberately or by neglect. Case in point is the recent focus of energy on the “brain drain.” Rather than focusing on the symptom, we should be treating the fundamental problem, which is the region isn’t attracting enough brains – irrespective of geography. If we focus resources on fixing or improving the fundamentals, the symptoms of our economic decline like the “brain drain” will take care of themselves.
